Back to Work(ing Out)
Last night I went to Cardiokickboxing. It was the first bit of aggressive exercise I've attempted in over a week since getting ill. I'll admit that it did feel great being active again. But the class also did kick my butt a little. I still have remnants of a cough as well and there were a few times that I was hacking like a hag. I guess the upside to that is that it kept people from invading my space. "Oooh... stay away from the sick girl."
So, I'm back in fairly decent health (besides the annoying cough) and ready to restart my schedule and eating and all that health and fitness hoo-hah. And it's just in time because "normally-eats-fairly-healthy-Heather" had a "really-ate-shitty-Tuesday." I can't believe in the same day I went out for lunch where I had a buffalo chicken sandwich (fried chicken, thank you) with fries, I then had nachos and a beer for dinner at a bar. And that's not even taking into account the burger I had for lunch the day before.
Honestly. I really don't eat this way.
Especially when I'm sick.
I suppose the irony of the situation is that when I weighed myself at the gym last night after class, I was at 146 which is almost down ten pounds from this past October. Of course, that was before the nacho/beer dinner.
Nevertheless, my straying health habits are being far from punished. At least on the scale. Maybe that body fat test I had done really was a warning.
So, getting back in the swing of things, I'm restarting a food journal which will re-account me for what I'm eating. And I'm starting a formal workout schedule which will force this girl to start weight training again. It's actually amazing to me that I've let that aspect slip so. I mean, I've really been such a promoter of strength training. I believe in it. I've witnessed it's affects. However, when moving-chaos hit my life, it was the first thing to go. Especially after I discovered Yoga and Steve Ross' show. Hitting the gym and weights has barely been an afterthought.
Not that I've quit completely. But averaging 1 weight training workout per 2 week period of time does not a muscle build. And, kids, you know the law: All the cardio in the world will not do a lick of good if you don't have muscle there to tighten up the scene.
So that's my scam and I'm sticking to it.
